Hello everyone who somehow found this site. I’ve decided to start this site/blog to share my love of music and being a fan with everyone. I want everyone to be able to get solid, honest, and authentic music reviews. You could probably just go to YouTube for this, but for those who prefer the blog format, I wanted to create this for you. Here are a few things just to introduce/explain the concept of this site.
1. Just for fun!
I think it is important that one of the reasons you start something is that you just genuinely want to. I have been trying to find a hobby or just something to do for fun for ages. I’m still young and trying to find myself and I hope that this site will help me get there.
I also hope that the people reading the reviews and commenting and debating will also have a lot of fun as well. I think that discussing opinions and views can be interesting, fun, and a great learning opportunity. Reading reviews for music you would have never thought you would listen to could spark an interest in the genre.
2. It’s a fan culture.
If you’ve been up to date in society and the internet lately, you probably know that it is a fan-based culture. Everyone is a fan of something and almost everywhere there is fan accounts, fan reviews, fan-based content, and even sites dedicated to different fan bases. The internet is filled with Whovians, ARMYs, and Kardashian fans.
I thought about what I was passionate about and what the world was all about these days. Almost immediately I thought about being a fan. Everyone can relate to it and has something to add to the table on the subject. Whether they are a casual fan or someone who owns every single piece of merch, all fans have a love of something and spends a part of their precious time on Earth on that thing.
3. Music is life.
Music is a huge part of my life, and I know that a lot of other people can say the same. Music can take up a lot of our lives whether it’s playing as a stress reliever, it’s something we like playing in the background, or it’s actually something we do.
For a lot of people, it’s not only the one song they love, but the artist as well. I remember when I was younger and I told myself I would never get obsessed with a band or artist because that’s just for silly teenage girls; however, as someone who is completely obsessed with quite a few bands and meeting other fans of those same bands, I can now confirm that it is not just for the teenage girls.
In fact, music can change people’s lives. I have seen it happen on many occasions. It may sound silly or even stupid to say that people you don’t even know has changed your entire life, but really think about what music can say. Music can make you realize a passion, discover a feeling, or even give you reasons to live. There are so many songs and topics that songs can be about and there are so many bands and people that can bring a new perspective to someone who needs it.
4. Authenticity
Automatically, whether you find it authentic and honest is up to you. I am sick of looking at different reviews on YouTube and finding that it seems like the person I watch likes EVERYTHING they listen to. I want somewhere where you don’t ONLY find good reviews, but also the ones that keep it honest and say, “you know what, this song didn’t live up to my expectations and here’s why”. Not only will it feel more honest, but you can get different view points and look at songs differently than you have before.
5. Discussion
Do you ever just want to discuss a songs lyrics or sound? Does the need for debate just scream to be let free? Well I was hoping that this would fill your need. People who post on here should be ready for others to want to discuss or debate over the review. When you review something, there are always going to be people who disagree and want to combat your views. This doesn’t mean you should start an entire fight/fan war over something as they are all opinions and aren’t hurting you or anyone else.
So that’s my idea for this site. I just started it on a whim and don’t know how far this will go or how much time I will put into it, but I’m hoping it will be a fun adventure that I can share with many other music fans. Please leave feedback and thoughts on this concept and idea, I really appreciate it. Thanks for reading!
(Sorry for the terrible writing, this is my first blog experience.)
