Album by Cavetown
1. Music – 10/10
The music is very good for a newer artist. It fits the songs and lyrics very well and he even plays the guitar for a lot of his songs. The music is very pretty and mellifluous. His music feels very unique in this album and whenever I hear his music, I can usually tell it’s him without having to hear the lyrics. This aspect is definitely a 10.
2. Lyrics – 8/10
While the music is great and the lyrics are usually very good and symbolic, there are some songs that I can help thinking, “are there any more lyrics to this, or is this really how it be?” *cough cough* Ten Feet Tall *cough*. I can understand that some songs, there just isn’t much to write about the concept, but this can’t be overlooked. However I do really enjoy listening and relating to most of his songs. His lyrics seem advanced for the stage of his career and he deserves this 8 100%.
3. Variety – 10/10
I really enjoy all the songs on this album and enjoy the fact that no song sounds the same. Each has something different to bring to the concept and a different vibe. When artists come up with an album, it shows not only the concept of the album, but it shows where they are in their career. This album shows an advanced range of variety and concept comprehension.
4. Vocals – 10/10
Again I am completely blown away by the control and understanding of range. Cavetown seems to know and understand his own range and where his ability lies. His choice in lyrics and music shows he knows how to mold his music around his voice and mold his voice to his music. This album was written to suit his vocal ability.
5. Concept Consistency – 10/10
The concept is basically the vibe of the entire album. Is there a solid vibe? Or is it just random songs that just happen to be thrown together. It is pretty hard to get a low score on this as most people have different eras in their life and most artists write albums to go with that era. The album is pretty obviously about the different relationships in his life, where he is in each of them and how he feels about it. It’s really nice to listen to and easily relatable. While each song is different and unique, they are consistent with where he is in life. I very much enjoy listening and sharing his experiences with him.
OVERALL SCORE – 10/10
This is a very nice album and I enjoy using it to relieve stress. Just going by this album, I predict that Cavetown is going to have a promising future.
